Beef Hotpot – Method & Instructions
Pre-heat the oven to Gas 4/180°C/350°F
Heat olive oil in a deep fring pan
When the pan is hot add the beef and cook on a medium heat for 10 – 15 minutes to sear the beef, ensuring that beautiful flavour is kept.
Remove the beef from the pan and place in a bowl for to use later, making sure to keep as much juice as you can in the pan.
Now cook the vegetables in the pan with that lovely juice for 10 minutes.
While the vegetables are cooking, make your beef stock by adding water to the stock cubes in a jug and stir until stock cubes are desolved.
After the 10 minutes of cooking the vegetable, add the flour.
Cook the flour for 1 minute with the vegetables and stir continuously.
Add the beef back into the pan along with the vegetables.
The beef stock now has to be added to the pan.
Bring to the boil and stir continuously with a wooden spoon.
Turn heat down to a medium heat and cook for a further 5 – 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Pour the lovely beef and vegetables along with all the juice into individual dishes or one large dish if you prefer.
Slice some thinly raw potatoes.
Layer the potatoes ontop of the beef.
Place in the oven for 1 hour.
Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
You can just eat the beef hotpot on its own or you can serve with some vegetables and maybe like I did on the YouTube video, some nice deep fried thinly sliced potaoes.
Happy Cooking
